Just How Much Do You Love Handmade Carpets?

The world has seen a constant turnover and rotation of dynasties over the millennia, but the British royal family is an exception. The British royal family is one of the oldest in existence, having been the princess of England for more than a thousand years, starting in 829, making it a true millennial royal family.

The British royal family is known to reside in some of the most prestigious buildings in the world, such as Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace. However, the family has some lesser-known residences throughout the United Kingdom, and today we will take a look at how luxurious these royal residences are.

  • Windsor Castle

Windsor Castle, located in the Royal Borough of Windsor-Maidenhead, Berkshire, in the southeast region of England, is the family castle of the Windsor dynasty of the British Crown and is the largest of the inhabited castles in the world today.

As you enter the main hall of Windsor Castle, there is nothing more striking than the red, oversized Axminster carpet carpet on the floor. With a colorful medallion pattern in the center and 32 rectangular blue blocks scattered around it, the carpet is filled with endless floral elements on a brown and cream ground, making it very grand. Custom designed by a team of professionals specifically for Windsor Castle, this handmade carpet is approximately 52 feet long and 38 feet wide, with a vibrant but not fancy color scheme as the design highlight.

  • Buckingham Palace

Buckingham Palace has been the official London residence of the British monarch since 1837. Built in the City of Westminster, it is a four-story square courtyard building with more than 600 rooms, including ceremony halls, concert halls, banquet halls, and galleries. Each room is exquisitely and luxuriously decorated, and the floor has a handmade carpet large enough to match.

The handmade carpets in Buckingham Palace are of various styles, except for the traditional Persian pattern, Savanari style carpets are also very common. This is because the overall decoration style of Buckingham Palace is on the European court style, so with the same court pattern of Savannah Rui carpet is very colorful, more to highlight the royal dignity and exquisite.

  • Clarence House

Clarence house was the official residence of Charles and his wife Camilla in London when he was Crown Prince. From 1953 to 2002, it was also the London home of his mother. Prince William and Prince Harry also lived here.

The photo below is of them celebrating the christening of Prince Louis, the third child of Prince William and his wife Kate. The beautiful room is decorated in blue-green and sumptuous gold, while the floor is covered with an Aubusson style handmade carpet in the same color.

After seeing these magnificent royal residences, one has to marvel at the extravagant life of the nobles. But think about it from another angle, although we can’t afford to live in such a luxurious castle, but still can buy a classical and elegant hand-made carpet to comfort our ordinary time.
